One match. One connection.

For SagePaths Group, connecting people has always been part of what we do.

Most of the time, that connection happens through an education plan, a university partnership or a student support programme.

This time, it happened on the badminton court.

On 27 June, the 8th Xuelian Cup China–Singapore Youth Sports Festival Badminton Tournament was held at the SIM Block D Sports Hall in Singapore.

From morning registration and the opening ceremony to group matches, knockout rounds, finals and the awards presentation, students and young scholars from universities across Singapore came together to compete, connect and enjoy the sport.

As a sponsor of the tournament, SagePaths Group joined the Singapore Students Association in supporting an event built around youth, sport and cross-cultural exchange.

More Than a Competition

Badminton is a familiar sport for many students.

It can be highly competitive, but it can also be social, relaxed and collaborative.

Throughout the tournament, there were powerful smashes and close rallies, but also encouraging high-fives, team support and plenty of smiles after the final whistle.

For many young people studying or working in Singapore, events like this provide something valuable beyond results.

They offer a chance to step away from study, research and work, reconnect through sport, and meet people outside their usual circles.

On court, participants may be opponents.

Off court, they have the opportunity to become friends.

That is what makes the Xuelian Cup more than just a sporting event.

Why SagePaths Supports Youth Sports

For international students, building a life overseas is about more than academic performance.

Parents often ask:

Will my child be able to settle in?

Will they make friends?

Will they build a life beyond the classroom?

These questions matter.

Studying abroad involves adapting to a new academic environment, managing daily life, building social connections and gradually finding a sense of belonging.

SagePaths chose to support the Xuelian Cup because we believe sport creates one of the most natural ways for young people to connect.

A badminton match begins with a shared interest.

A youth event creates room for conversation.

And over time, a strong community can help students feel more supported and more connected to the city they now call home.

Supporting Students Beyond Admission

Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Singapore, SagePaths Group has developed into an integrated international education and global services platform.

Over the years, we have supported more than 10,000 students on their international education journeys.

Our work extends beyond university applications.

Through SagePaths Global Education, we support education planning and admissions across different stages of study.

The Singapore Education Development Centre (SEDC) works with education partners and institutions.

Pickering Institute helps international students prepare for overseas learning environments.

SagePartners Global Services supports broader family and business needs in Singapore, while SOYAGE develops study tours, educational travel and international learning experiences.

The goal is not simply to help students arrive in Singapore.

It is to help them study well, settle in, build meaningful connections and develop with confidence.

Supporting youth activities such as the Xuelian Cup is a natural extension of that approach.

Creating More Opportunities for Young People to Connect

The success of the 8th Xuelian Cup was made possible by the organisation of the Singapore Students Association, together with staff, volunteers, participants and supporting partners.

As an important platform for Chinese students, Singaporean students and young scholars, the association continues to create opportunities for young people to meet, participate and connect through a wide range of activities.

SagePaths is pleased to support initiatives that bring students beyond the classroom and into real communities.

We hope every young person studying, living and building a future in Singapore can find not only academic opportunities, but also their own rhythm, their own community and people to grow alongside.

From the court to the wider world, meaningful connections often begin with simply showing up.
